Die Stadt Ratingen wollte der Griechischen Gemeinde einen alten Pavillon schenken. Doch für den Transport und Aufbau fehlte dem Verein das Geld. Nun soll ein vollwertiger Ersatz fürs marode Vereinsheim her.
Die
Mitglieder des Griechischen Vereins am Hauser Ring können aufatmen: Die
Stadt hat signalisiert, dass sie ein neues Vereinsheim bekommen werden.
Einem
geschenkten Gaul schaut man nicht ins Maul, heißt es gemeinhin. Doch
wenn ein vermeintlich Präsent schon offensichtlich mit einem dicken
Pferdefuß daherkommt, sollte man aufmerksam werden. So hat die
Griechische Gemeinde dankend ein Angebot der Stadt abgelehnt, den nicht
mehr benötigten Pavillon des ehemaligen Cafés Lichtblick gratis zu
übernehmen: Abbau, Transport und Aufbau sowie Entsorgung des alten
Vereinsheimes könnten nach ersten groben Schätzung zwischen 150 000 und
200 000 Euro verschlingen. Zuviel für die Vereinskasse. Zumal eine
Sanierung der 30 Jahren alten Pappschachtel am Hauser Ring schon für
etwa 80 000 Euro zu haben wäre. Nun hat Erster Beigeordneter
Klaus-Konrad Pesch einen Neubau in Aussicht gestellt.
Der Griechische Verein, bei dem Integration groß geschrieben wird, hat auch etwa 40 deutsche Mitglieder.
Außerdem gibt es zwei gemischte Tanzgruppen.
SPD
und CDU hatten sich in Brandbriefen an Bürgermeister Harald Birkenkamp
(BU) für eine schnelle Lösung des Problems eingesetzt. „Das griechische
Zentrum ist in einem erbärmlichen Zustand. Das Dach ist nicht mehr so
recht dicht, Isolierung fehlt, die Abwasserleitungen laufen nicht mehr
ab“, so beschreibt SPD-Fraktionschef Christian Wiglow den Pavillon.
Der
Vorschlag der Stadt, den nicht mehr nötigen Pavillon aus West dort
aufzubauen, habe zunächst „gut und vernünftig“ geklungen. Doch dann habe
sich herausgestellt, dass die Stadt dieses „Geschenk mit einigen
unmöglichen Nebenbestimmungen versehen hat“: Der Verein sollte die
Arbeiten auf eigene Kosten übernehmen. So könne man keine Ratsbeschlüsse
umsetzen, schimpfte Wiglow. Er forderte die sofortige Beseitigung der
Mängel und einen Neubau im kommenden Jahr.
Auch Ewald Vielhaus, CDU-Fraktionsvorsitzender und CDU-Ratsmitglied David Lüngen mahnten eine Lösung an: Eine Sanierung sei nicht mehr wirtschaftlich. Entweder richte die Stadt das alte Café Lichtblick am Hauser Ring her oder baue dort komplett neu: Eventuell nötige Mittel seien „überplanmäßig zur Verfügung zu stellen“. Gemeinsam mit dem Verein soll geklärt werden, wie „ein moderater Beitrag“ der Griechen zum Beispiel bei Nebenkosten und Gebäudeunterhaltung aussehen könnte. Für den Außenbereich fordert die CDU Sitzgruppen und Abfallbehälter. Auch sollten die Mitglieder die Grünanlagen selbst pflegen. Doch angesichts der vielen Bauprojekte der Stadt sieht er fürs Vereinsheim wenig Hoffnung. Das Thema dürfte jedenfalls nach den Ferien den Rat beschäftigen.
Bei der Stadt hieß es auf Anfrage, dass man die Höhe der Folgekosten für das Geschenk wohl falsch eingeschätzt habe: „Ein Missverständnis.“
In einem Schreiben an Christian Wiglow hat Klaus-Konrad Pesch nun mitgeteilt, dass das Dach des alten Vereinsheimes mittlerweile abgedichtet sei. „Soweit wirtschaftlich vertretbar“, werde durch das Hochbauamt die vorübergehende weitere Nutzung sichergestellt.
„Letztlich stellt ein Neubau des Pavillons die wirtschaftlichste Lösung dar“, so Pesch weiter. Die Neubaukosten sollen in den Haushalt 2008 eingestellt werden.
